ChristmasCountdown.io is an independent Christmas countdown and planning website. It started with one simple job, showing exactly how long is left until Christmas in your own timezone, and it has grown into a wider set of planning pages for the weeks around the holiday.
What the site is for
Most people arrive here with a very concrete question. How many days are left. How many weekends are left for shopping. What to buy for a father who says he wants nothing. What to put on a Christmas list. The site is organised around those questions rather than around a magazine style front page.
You will find live countdowns on the home page and in the Christmas tools hub, planning content such as the Christmas checklist, gift guides collected in Christmas gift ideas, family activities, and country guides under Christmas in your country. Longer editorial pieces live in the articles section.
How the content is created and maintained
The site is run as a small independent project, not as a newsroom. Pages are written and edited in house, then revisited when something is wrong, unclear or out of date. Seasonal pages get the most attention in the run up to December, because that is when they are read.
Software tools, including AI tools, may assist with drafting, structure, code and production work. AI output is not treated as a factual source. Where a page makes a factual, historical or cultural claim, that claim should be checked against reputable references before it is published, and country pages should show their sources where sources exist. This is a working standard rather than a claim that every sentence on the site has already been formally reviewed, and the editorial policy sets out how we want that work to be done.
What is calculated and what is editorial
Two very different kinds of content sit side by side here, and it helps to know which one you are reading.
Calculated content comes from date and time logic. Days, hours, minutes, seconds, sleeps, remaining weeks, weekends and shopping days are computed from the current moment and the target date, using your device timezone. If a countdown ever looks wrong to you, the timezone your device reports is the first thing worth checking, and the second is telling us so we can look at the calculation.
Editorial content is written judgement. Gift ideas, planning advice, activity suggestions and decorating ideas are opinions and categories, chosen because they tend to work for most people in that situation. They are not laboratory tests, and they are not personalised advice about your family or your budget.
How corrections are handled
If something on the site is factually wrong, out of date or confusing, please tell us through the contact page. Include the page address and what looks wrong. Reports that point at a specific claim are the fastest to act on. Where a report is right, the content itself is corrected rather than quietly left in place.
Advertising and commercial relationships
The site is free to read and may be supported by advertising, sponsorships and, where relevant, affiliate or partner arrangements. When commercial placements or affiliate relationships are used, they should be clearly labelled. Commercial relationships should not decide what a guide recommends or how a topic is covered, and a paid placement should never become an editorial endorsement. Gift pages do not publish prices or stock claims, because both change constantly and we are not a retailer. Where a budget is mentioned it is a rough band to help you plan, not a quoted price.
