Christmas Gifts Under $25

• A small tin of artisan chocolate or a single really good chocolate bar
• A bag of single-origin coffee with a handwritten brew tip
• A jar of local honey, a tin of olive oil or a small spice set
• Two or three of their favorite craft beers in a paper bag with a tag
• Homemade cookies in a clean glass jar with a ribbon

• A pack of quality markers, a sketchbook or a small art set
• A short hardback book or a paperback they have mentioned
• A small Lego set or single mini-figure
• A pair of warm gloves or a beanie in a color they wear
• A gift card to a coffee chain or food spot they actually use

The thank-you gift sits in its own category. The right one is small, useful and obviously chosen, never a clearance-bin novelty. A short handwritten card is the part that lands.

• A jar of really good local honey with a hand-tied ribbon

• A bag of single-origin coffee or a tin of loose-leaf tea
• A small potted plant in a plain ceramic pot
• A bag of homemade cookies or shortbread in a clean glass jar

Stocking fillers are where most of the under-$25 budget gets wasted. The fix is to stop buying multiples and start buying one or two small things that feel chosen. Three good items beat ten random ones every time.

• A pair of properly warm wool socks in a calm colour
• A miniature of a whisky, gin or rum they have mentioned
• A small leather keychain, card holder or refillable pen
• A single bar of really good dark chocolate
• A miniature of a favourite perfume or hand cream
• A small notebook in a quality cloth or leather cover

Presentation does more work than people realise. The same $15 candle in cellophane reads as cheap. In a sheet of heavy kraft paper with a single strand of natural twine and a sprig of rosemary it reads as a chosen gift.

• Pick one paper colour for every small gift this year — cream, kraft, deep red, forest green. Consistency reads as intentional.
• Use real ribbon, not curling ribbon. A single natural twine, satin or velvet ribbon costs almost nothing.
• Add one small natural element: a pine sprig, a cinnamon stick, a dried orange slice, a sprig of eucalyptus.
• Write the tag by hand. Even three words ("From me, with love") on a kraft tag changes the feel of the whole gift.
• Skip the gift bag if the item is small enough to wrap. A wrapped gift always reads as more considered than a bagged one.
